After 20 years of living in darkness, the people of Onicha-Ukwuani and its surrounding clans are celebrating a major milestone—the full restoration of electricity—thanks to the selfless efforts of Chief Emeke Ochonogor. This long-awaited electrification project signals a new chapter for the community, opening doors to economic growth, better education, improved healthcare, and an overall enhanced quality of life.

Chief Ochonogor personally initiated and executed this critical infrastructure project, reaffirming his dedication to the welfare and development of Onicha-Ukwuani. His leadership and financial commitment have turned a long-standing dream into reality.

We wish to bring this to the notice of the public in other to set the record straight regarding misinformation in the media crediting this achievement to some government officials. Notably, the Deputy Governor, in an interview on Arise TV, acknowledged that the electrification equipment had been vandalized by hoodlums during the years of neglect. It is clear, and visibly evident from the attached media, that this project came to fruition through the private initiative and direct intervention of Chief Emeke Ochonogor.

The project’s benefits extend beyond Onicha-Ukwuani, as neighboring communities like Utagba-Uno was able to tap electricity from Ugiliamai, Onicha-Ukwuani.

In recognition of this remarkable contribution, the Onicha-Ukwuani community recently conferred upon him the Chieftaincy title OMEMA 1 OF ONICHA-UKWUANI during a special ceremony. This title reflects the deep appreciation of the people for his unwavering support and life-changing generosity.

Please find attached media files for visual confirmation and further details.

Warm Regards,
Emeke Ochonogor Media Team
