2027: AAC Governorship Candidate Promised to change Deltans’ Fortunes for Good if Elected

Engr. Isaac O. Eshor, has pledged to transform the fortunes of Deltans through purposeful leadership, economic diversification, job creation, and social welfare programmes if elected as governor.
Engr. Eshor who is contesting under the platform of the Africa Action Congress (AAC)made this pledge on the 3, June 2026, during encounter with selected journalists in Udu, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
While reacting to some of the questions put across to him, especially on to generate revenue for the fortunes of Deltans, he noted that, Delta State is richly endowed with resources that have not been fully harnessed, particularly in the maritime sector, which he described as a major avenue for economic growth and employment generation.
The AAC governorship candidate, who is a marine engineer, explained that, his wealth of experience and international contacts would enable him to attract foreign investors into the maritime industry and establish shipping lines in the state.
“I have the contacts to bring foreign investors into the maritime sector, which has enormous economic potential but has been largely neglected. Through strategic investments, Delta State can develop its own shipping lines and create thousands of jobs,” he said.
While explaining further, Engr Eshor stated that, if elected as governor, his administration would prioritize youth empowerment through skills acquisition programmes aimed at producing self-employed individuals and employers of labour.
“My vast knowledge and background in the marine engineering sector would be leveraged to train youths in Ship-building and related maritime trades”.
“We will establish skills acquisition programmes across the state to equip our youths with practical knowledge that will make them self-reliant and productive contributors to society. As a trained marine engineer from a family of engineers, I intend to share this knowledge to improve lives,” he added.
The AAC Governorship aspirant, while explaining some of his programmes intended to put in place, if elected, unveiled plans for an extensive social welfare scheme for senior citizens, saying residents aged 60 years and above would receive monthly stipends higher than the national minimum wage.
“Apart from creating jobs, our elderly citizens from the age of 60 will receive monthly support above the minimum wage to enable them live with dignity,” he stated.
On education and healthcare, Eshor promised free education for all Deltans from primary school to university level, while also improving healthcare services to ensure quality medical attention for pregnant women and other residents.
He emphasized that prudent management of public resources would be a hallmark of his administration, assuring Deltans that government funds would be transparently utilized for the benefit of the people.
According to him, his government would not engage in indiscriminate distribution of money but would channel available resources into programmes that directly improve the welfare of citizens.
“We will run an inclusive government where every community will have representation in Government House. This will ensure that all parts of the state are carried along in governance and policy formulation,” he said.
The governorship hopeful expressed concern over what he described as the limited impact of the state’s huge revenue on the lives of ordinary citizens, arguing that while road construction is important, it should not be considered the sole measure of development.
“Roads and bridges are basic infrastructure that citizens deserve. While they are necessary, they should not be regarded as extraordinary achievements. Government must go beyond infrastructure and focus on improving the overall well-being of the people,” he said.
Eshor criticized what he described as the recycling of the same political class, noting that young people with fresh ideas have largely been relegated to the background in governance.
He maintained that many political leaders have prioritized personal and family interests over public service, a trend, he vowed to reverse if elected.
The Oshimili North-born politician expressed confidence in his chances at the polls, citing what he described as growing support among youths and other residents seeking economic empowerment and better governance.
He dismissed concerns over rotational politics, insisting that such arrangements are not enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution.
The AAC candidate called on Deltans, particularly youths, to embrace change by supporting his candidacy and joining the party’s movement to build a more prosperous and inclusive Delta State.
“It is time for Deltans to embrace a new direction that will benefit everyone. I urge our youths and all well-meaning citizens to join us in building a government that truly serves the people,” Eshor stated.
