DUCHESS CLUB OF IBUSA SET TO UNVEIL COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN IGBUZO
The Duchess Club of Ibusa, a renowned non-political association of enlightened married women of Ibusa origin and women married into the community, is set to unveil a series of community development projects across various quarters in Igbuzo on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Founded on June 20, 1982, in Benin City, then Bendel State, by Duchess Commy Obiajulu Abuah, the women’s organization has over the years earned admiration for its humanitarian and developmental efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Igbuzo and neighbouring communities.
The club, which has expanded to seven branches in different locations, has consistently championed initiatives focused on education, healthcare, social welfare, and grassroots development.
Speaking ahead of the unveiling ceremony, the Chairperson of the Project Committee, Duchess (Dr.) Obi-Okpoho Vivian Henry-Ajudua, wife of the revered Obi, Dr. Henry Ajudua, Ezeudo Igbuzo, described the projects as part of the club’s enduring commitment to community service and sustainable development.
She stated that the Duchess Club remains a body of like-minded women united by a shared vision of promoting peace, unity, and meaningful progress within Igbuzo and beyond.
According to her, the projects were carefully selected to address pressing needs within different quarters of the community and to improve the living conditions of residents.
She also expressed appreciation to the club’s matrons, Lady Ambassador Patricia Ndidi Umunna (Nne Oha) and Mrs. Loretta Smith, as well as donors and supporters who contributed toward the successful execution of the projects.
The Duchess Club has always remained passionate about the development of Igbuzo.
Our members are committed to giving back to society and supporting initiatives that uplift the community, she said.
The unveiling ceremony is expected to attract traditional Chiefs, community leaders, government officials, women groups, youths, and dignitaries from within and outside Delta State.
Residents and members of the public have been invited to witness what many have described as another landmark contribution by the Duchess Club of Ibusa toward the growth and advancement of the Igbuzo community.
The event is also expected to further reinforce the club’s longstanding legacy of unity, service, philanthropy, and community development spanning more than four decades.
