I am Comrade John Esimobi Nwanosike from Okpai. I am presenting myself to you to be elected as your next PG NNU
For sometime now, there has been increasing demands for candidates to step into the plate and make their intents and agenda known for inquisition and scrutiny rather than speaking through proxies. One even questioned the ability of Ndosumili to produce a PG that meets the mark. All I can say is : fear not. I am here and will not need a Spokesman to espouse and give life to my own vision. Having witnessed the macabare dance in Ndokwaland for decades and her humiliations, I can tell for free that I have lived long enough to know what we need to do to turn things around. It is someone that owns the land the herbalist is prancing. Having practiced activism as a way of life as a celebral activist for decades, I more than hv what NDOKWA needs right now to bail her out. Most of the qualities needed now are in abundance in me and I will not deny us my services having used them to benefit others in the Nigerian society.
Talk of being a straight arrow, honest and intellectually savvy, a courageous personality bold enough to broach any subject matter, no matter the audience, posssesng oratorial and written skills and articulation, consistently and doggedly tenaciius, coupled with native, academic and emotional intelligence, those who know me know I weigh much. Or is it knowledge of an industry I worked in for over 30 years and all the nuances, regulations guidelines, laws and shenanigans that have deprived us which we can expose and leverage and turn to advantage? Just name it. Compatriots, I know my onion. My years of testimony as an activist of repute, an accomplished Engineer and Community Engagement expert in this quintessential industry critical to our development will weigh hard on the job at hand.
This role is all about advocacy for people’s rights and social justice. I indulged in these through out my career. On retirement three years ago, I continued in that trajectory through an NGO I joined others to form in continuation of my service to hunanity. Who can eat Yam more than the man whose barn burnt?. Over the years, I pranced at heavenly places where angels fear to tread. I can boldly declare without any equivocation that nobody can do this PG job better than me right now. Having wrestled on top of Palm tree all through my life, ordinary shells on the floor will not scare my old age.
What Ndokwa need do at this time is to cure insult and recover what is stolen and I can lead it. You dont do that by endless grovelling and pandering in high places with high sounding words that move no needle and quivering, expecting mercy. You do it by taking a stand upright and respectfully but firmly putting your demands across. It is the firm demand and advocacy coupled with effective and carefully planned and clinically executed consequence management system that increases bargaining power. That is what we need now. I will lead all these from the front and it will happen
Past leaders hv done their best and I salute their vision. But we are still in the doldrum. We must now sharpen our focus, partner with and learn from others and change our strategies. This body must transmute from elitism to a mass movement. Endless Conciliation, loyalty in the face of bare faced oppression and turning the other cheek will give us no succur and offer us nothing. Fierce loyalty alone give nothing other than scorn and disregard. It is viewed as helplessness ND weakness. We must change this trajectory of being less than equal to one of mutual respect
As a long standing activist, I hv grappled with most of the challenges facing Ndokwa today elsewhere and led others to solve them. Is it expatriate quota, unfair labour practices, labour stagnation, and enslavement, or local content, local empowerment, infrastructure development, environmental pollution or high handedness by govt agencies? Name it.
As a young man and a budding employee, while others minded their businesses, I used my time to initiate and address things for Ndokwa and others The Obiaruku – Utagba Uno- Onicha Ukwuani-iselegu- Onuaboh- Utchi road traversing the 3 LGAs was initiated by me in Letter to late Sen Osakwe in 1999. He fetted me and did the 1st phase covering Ndokwa West and Ujwuani LGAs. Extending it to cover Ndokwa East was marred and lost in Ndokwa dirty politics. I will ensure that bad history stops
I took up the NDDC issue that everybody gloated over too shy to confront for decades and got to the highest level of governance in Aso Rock through my grit, Courage, tenacity and commitment. We wrestled with the high and mighty in Niger Delta and almost nicked the MD slot for Ndokwa if not for one unfortunate happenstance of ill luck. If little me can prosecute this and go that far, you can imagine what can happen if we gather all our lobbyists and resource persons with me leading the charge . No force can stop us.
How did Okpai, Beneku and Aboh get free electricity from Agip. It was my advocacy. Please research it. It can still happen for the rest of for Ndokwa if we research and put our acts and strategy together. I can lead it
If little me can recommend 10% equity participation for communities in 2009 PIB VERSION that was whittled down to 3% in PIA, sent 564 expats parking from Chevron Nigeria for nationals to take their places, convert 364 casual workers to Chevron employees and ended workers stagnation by promoting over 700 staff amongst others, what shenanigans are oil companies doing here in cahoot with oppressive and rapacious govt agencies that we cannot stop to our benefit with all of us working together and me leading you?
At the risk of sounding immodest, in the business of advocacy for peoples’ right and social justice combined with negotiating and taking up Challenges at the highest level, not many in Ndokwa can boast of my pedigree. How many of our people have had the boldness to take up any of the oil companies for all the intimidations and havoc they are wrecking in our environment and dispossessing our future generations of lands they need to live their lives? How many hv taken up the issue of oil companies not doing any EIA in all their projects In line with UN REGULATIONS AND INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS. This is the only thing that will safeguard us, protect the next generation and guarrantee our healthy living. Through my NGO, I hv taken up sterling for these lack of environmental compliance and land grab and dared the Army. For three years, we hv been in court. Ndokwa wake up and smell the coffee
Ndokwa under my leadership will be heard and she will take her place. There are enough laws and regulations we can leverage combined with our critical mass. Just believe and lend your support because “Oshe bey never can be one man show”! Just one single brain and one lonely effort can never achieve meaningful success. It takes all of us working in tandem
Let us beg our delegates not to pander to emotion and be induced to vote. Anybody having better agenda and clearer pathway to achieving them should win.
There have been comments suggesting that people are already seeing this as an investment opportunity to gain in Office. That has been the problem. Compatriots, Ndokwa has been insulted and abused enough by others. Only a fool will allow you abuse his father because he is dead and no longer here. Anybody breaking bank to win this one should be watched because there is no salary to it. We should not allow people position for gains or for the sake and hope of future bigger office. Rather it should be about sacrifice and service. I hv worked all my useful age. Now is time to serve and give back. Let us leave little things to be offered by our “enemies” alone so that we can salvage some pride. I know we are poor and life has been brutish, but let us endure and get it right for once. Anybody that will demand incentive to vote will also demand same to support when call for mass action in self defence comes. Let us for once show we can be of steady character and we can be angry. I don’t want to indulge in excessive begging and influencing. See my pedigree ND my agenda and vote for me if you are convinced. Thus should be that My children are already telling me I am too old. Accepting their admonition, positioning for new office and more success should not be my focus now. I want to deliver value ND be remembered just as I continue to be Celebrated 12 years after leaving office in Chevron. Today, I remain a role model known for courage, earth shaking results, high intelligence, and an astute negotiator. My driver right now is to offer pro Bono service with the talents and experience that has benefitted others big time and replicate it home to hv my peace. Without this, my retirement will not be complete. I therefore will not join in any debilitating rat race to win at all cost That should be left to those who desire to win, control and recoup.it is not for me. Again, smell the coffee.
Ndokwa need a complete change in strategy now. First of all, NNU must advance from an elitistis group to a mass movement where everybody have equal stake but some contribute more than others. Be sure I will motivate, mobilize and unite us to effectiveness.
I know this effort will arouse interest and reactions. But it is just an appetizer. I don’t want to do “over syllabus” at this time. Keep your powder dry till my blueprint to uplift Ndokwa is out. Then we can reason together. But be reassured that there are enough laws, guidelines and regulations both internationally and nationally we can leverage to advance our course. My administration will not be short in deploying them to make them hear us. But. Be ready to do your part too. We all hv roles to play.
