SEMINAR ON PIA AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF HOST COMMUNITIES HELD

A one-day seminar on the petroleum industry act PIA (2021) and the sustainable development of host communities organized by Umuseti and Igbuku Host Communities Development trust has been held in Kwale. Key lectures delivered by guest speakers like ex-chairman of Ndokwa West local government area, Barrister Egri Okwaji, while chief Basil Oguafor also spoke on the essentials of public administration to the sustainable development of the host communities. An associate professor of economics of Novena University, Dr. O.R. Ogwuru also dwelt on “The Benefit and strategies of ensuring Equitable distribution and sustainable development.”

Dr. Eric Adishi, a psychologist and the SSA to Governor on security equally spoke extensively on peace building and security in oil field operating areas and the host communities. The role of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

Mr. Akpe Aguwuye also highlighted the large audience on the activities and achievement of Pillar Oil Services in relation with the company social responsibility CSR and how his employers intend to improve upon its activities in their areas of operation.

The highlight of the occasion is the presentation of certificates to the large participants and communities’ representatives. Some participants expressed satisfaction on the content of the lectures and further added that the seminar has made them to understand the PIB and their responsibilities as Community Leaders. Over 85 participants drawn from host Communities under Pillar Oil.

They are Igbuku Community, Umuseti-Ogbe Community, Umusam-Ogbe Community, Ogbuani Community and Umusadege-Ogbe Community. Others are Isumpe-Ogbe Community, Members of the Board, and Management Committee members of Umuseti/Igbuku Field HCDT
