OKORODUDU RECEIVES COMMITTEE REPORT ON RESTORATION OF ELECTRICITY TO OLOMU COMMUNITIES By Ejememo Enoch Igho,Evelyn Obibi-Assay

The Executive Director Project, EDP, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu today 7th May, 2025 received a comprehensive technical report on ways to address the long absence of electricity in Olomu communities.

Receiving the report from the team led by the Secretary to Ughelli South Local Government Area, Olorogun Ewenede John, JP, Dr. Okorodudu commended them for the thorough job done, saying that the report shall be considered and acted upon after consulting widely with the people of Olomu Kingdom.

According to him, “The objective of this committee was to look into the electric power challenges in Olomu Kingdom, where I come from and to seek solutions.”

Speaking further, Dr. Okorodudu said the report has created an ample opportunity for the community leaders to find solutions to the lingering problems of electricity in the Kingdom.

Earlier, the Secretary to the committee, Engr. Ovie Valentine Agbarue had said the committee had painstakingly visited and checked various faulty transformers and cables in the communities and also made two separate costs of how to fix them.

“We have discovered that some of the faulty transformers and cables are as a result of negligence and lack of security for the facilities in the communities,” he said.

Speaking further, he said that they checked over Fourteen (14) transformers as stated in the report with some of them underutilized as in a case of installing a 500kva transformer in a community having only two hundred (200) houses. He thus, advised that such transformers should be relocated to densely populated areas for optimal performance.

He equally spoke on synergy between BEDC and the communities involved to work out modalities to secure the facilities in those communities.

The highlight of the meeting was the presentation of the committee report to Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu.

Those in attendance were Oghotomo Peter, P.G; Atufe Amos, Secretary, Olomu Community; Okpe Olomu; Aluya Omofe; A. Oviri and Engr. Ovie Agbarue. In the DESOPADEC team were Engr. Tony Okuwe, EA to EDP; Engr. Elliott Olokor, Head, Projects Monitoring and Evaluation, PME; Qs. Williams Oyimi, Head Housing Department; Engr. Onokpasa, SA to EDP amongst others.
